Subject: Riba prohibitted in Christainity and Judaism
Interest (Riba) Prohibited in Islam, Christianity and Judaism 1. Meaning of the word “Riba” Riba literally means "to grow; to increase." It is of two kinds: In English it is usually translated as “Interest” or “Usury” 2. Prohibition in Islam: The word “Riba” is used in the Holy Quran 8 times. The Quran says “Those who devour usury will not stand except as stand one whom the Evil one “O ye who believe! Devour not usury, doubled and multiplied; but fear Allah. “O ye who believe!
