*As-Seerah an-Nabawiyyah *
by *Shaykh Wasiullaah 'Abbaas حفظه الله*
Delivered on January 30th, 2007
http://www.albaseerah.org/forum/showthread.php?t=3126

The Shaykh حفظه الله continued by saying about the Seerah of the Prophet who
was the best of all creation, Muhammad ibn 'Abdillaah
that it is not possible that an individual could mention everything about
the Seerah in mere hours or even days; and this is by sitting with someone
who is fluent and who has the most eloquent speech. Even if you sat with
this individual for hours or months, he still would not be able to clarify
to you all of the Seerah of the Prophet Rather, this is
a subject that could take years to explain. Looking at the strong and the
noble personality of the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم, it is not possible that
in these few minutes that we have with one another we can mention everything
about the Messenger صلى الله عليه وسلم and his Seerah.

Allaah سبحانه وتعالى says in the Qur'aan:
 وَإِنَّكَ لَعَلَى خُلُقٍ عَظِيمٍ
*{And verily, you (O Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم) are on an exalted standard
of character.}* [al-Qalam 68:4]

This in itself shows the noble personality of the Prophet
– the noble behaviour that he had. It is not possible that I can clarify to
you in these few minutes everything about the Seerah of the Prophet صلى الله
عليه وسلم, but in these few minutes that we have with one another, I will
mention something. We will take glimpses from different aspects of the
Seerah of the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم starting from the Qur'aan and then
the Sunnah and then mentioning something from the books of the People of
Knowledge. We ask Allaah سبحانه وتعالى to make this sufficient for us, and
to suffice us with this Inshaa’Allaah, as we sit with one another to mention
something from knowledge.

*Allaah’s Mercy came from Mount Sinai, Seir, and Paran*

It is well known to all who claim to follow the other religions, even if the
books of these religions are being distorted, or these religions themselves
have been distorted, that all of them acknowledge the Prophet
Allaah سبحانه وتعالى did not send a prophet from the prophets except
that he gave glad tidings of the coming of Muhammad

We look at the two most famous prophets who came before the Messenger
Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم; they are Moosaa and `Eesa عليهما السلام. They
gave glad tidings of Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم and this can be found in
their books even though their books have since been distorted. You may find
that the text itself might have been removed, but you will find that the
scholars of those religions do themselves acknowledge that the books have
been distorted from their original texts. It is well-known that these
prophets gave glad tidings of Prophet Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم as there
was no prophet who came before except that he gave glad tidings of the

There is one text that was mentioned, in which Moosaa عليه السلام gave glad
tidings of the coming of `Eesa عليه السلام and the coming of Muhammad صلى
The Rabb came from Sinai and brought blessing from mount
Seir and shined forth from the mount Paraan*”. The gist of this text itself
points to the advice that Moosaa عليه السلام left behind for Bani `Israaeel
before his death – giving glad tidings of the coming of `Eesa ibn Maryam and
the coming of Muhammad ibn Abdillaah صلى الله عليه وسلم.[1] He سبحانه وتعالى
tied those three religions together i.e. the religion of Moosaa, the
religion of `Eesa and the religion of Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم, as before
his death, Moosaa عليه السلام gave glad tidings that `Eesa عليه السلام would
come and then after `Eesa there would be Muhammad Moosaa
was the Messenger who Allaah سبحانه وتعالى spoke to directly on Mount Toor.
Allaah سبحانه وتعالى called him in the valley of Ayman and gave him some
miracles and sent him to Fir’aun; and He revealed to him the Tauraat. Moosaa
gave glad tidings of the coming of `Eesa and the coming of Muhammad صلى الله

*As-Seerah an-Nabawiyyah *
by *Shaykh Wasiullaah 'Abbaas حفظه الله*
Delivered on January 30th, 2007
http://www.albaseerah.org/forum/showthread.php?t=3126

The Shaykh حفظه الله went on to say that the text mentioned that *“the light
would come from Seir”* which is a mountain in the area of Palestine close to
where `Eesa عليه سلام was born. This mountain is still there today and
everyone knows of it. The other mountain which was mentioned earlier is
Faraan (Paraan) which is a mountain from the mountains of Makkah. This
mountain is close to the cave of Hiraa’ where the Prophet
used to go to worship Allaah سبحانه وتعالى by reflecting and pondering over
His creation. This mountain surrounds the area of Makkah, and is close to
where the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم was born. It was in the cave of Hiraa’
where Allaah سبحانه وتعالى revealed the first ayah of the Qur'aan to the
Prophet

*{Read! In the Name of your Lord, Who has created (all that
exists).}*[al-'Alaq 96:1]

In the Bible, there has come a text giving glad tidings of the coming of
The text that was mentioned in the Bible is: *"The
Lord will come along with the child and will live in the deserted area of
Paraan"* – which is the area of this mountain that we’re talking about in
the valley of Makkah *“and the ghulaam (غلام – young boy) will have with him
a woman from Egypt.”* This is clearly a reference to Isma'eel and his
mother, as Ibraaheem عليه سلام lived in this area – in this valley where
there was no vegetation and no cultivation; this was the area of Faraan
(Paraan – the mountain that the Shaykh mentioned earlier).[2] There is also
another text in the Bible acknowledging the coming of Muhammad
وسلم where `Eesa عليه سلام mentioned in a verse that is found in the Bible
even to this day, where he said that *"I want to say to you many things,
things that you cannot understand right now, but if I go then the comforter
will come and he will say to you many things and he will bring you from
darkness into light, and he will not speak of his own accord but he will
speak from revelation that is revealed to him."*[3] This verse is in the
Bible even until today. We know the verse as ‘the verse of the *Comforter*’,
but this is the verse that shows that the Prophet Muhammad
وسلم was mentioned in the Bible.

*The earlier prophets described the characteristics of Allaah’s final

The Shaykh حفظه الله went on to say that many of the characteristics of the
Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم are found in the books of the People of the Book
– the Jews and the Christians. If any individual would take some time to
reflect and ponder over these characteristics, he would know for certain
that all of the ‘Anbiyaa (the Prophets) عليهم السلام that came before gave
glad tidings of the coming of Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم and they
encouraged their nations to follow the Messenger صلى الله عليه وسلم if they
reached that time.

The characteristics that are mentioned in the books of the Jews and
Christians are the same characteristics that are mentioned in the Qur’aan
i.e. they are in the Book of Allaah سبحانه و تعالى. For example, the verse
about the Comforter which was previously mentioned as being contained in the
Bible, and which states *that he does not speak from his own accord, rather
he only speaks that which is revealed to him*. This is similar to the verse
of Allaah سبحانه وتعالى where He said in the Qur'aan:

 وَمَا يَنطِقُ عَنِ الْهَوَى {3} إِنْ هُوَ إِلَّا وَحْيٌ يُوحَى
*{Nor does he speak of (his own) desire. It is only an Inspiration that is
inspired.}* [an-Najm 53:3-4]

Likewise, the statement of Allaah سبحانه وتعالى where He mentioned what
`Eesa عليه السلام said to his people, as found in the Qur’aan in
Suratus-Saff:

*{And (remember) when 'Eesa (Jesus), son of Maryam (Mary), said: "O Children
of Israel! I am the Messenger of Allaah unto you confirming the Tauraat
[(Torah) which came] before me,
and giving glad tidings of a Messenger to come after me, whose name shall be
Ahmed. But when he (Ahmed i.e. Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم) came to them
with clear proofs,
they said: “This is plain magic.”}* [As-Saff 61:6]

So many of his characteristics are mentioned in the Qur'aan that we cannot
even enumerate them in this one sitting. Allaah سبحانه وتعالى says in
another verse:

*{Those who follow the Messenger, the Prophet who can neither read nor write
(i.e.Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم) whom they find written with them in the
Tauraat (Torah) (Deut, xviii, 15) and the Injeel (Gospel) (John xiv, 16), -
he commands them for Al-Ma'roof (i.e. Islaamic Monotheism and all that
Islaam has ordained); and forbids them from Al-Munkar (i.e. disbelief,
polytheism of all kinds, and all that Islaam has forbidden); he allows them
as lawful At-Taiyibaat [(i.e. all good and lawful) as regards things, deeds,
beliefs, persons, foods, etc.], and prohibits them as unlawful Al-Khabaa'ith
(i.e. all evil and unlawful as regards things, deeds, beliefs, persons,
foods, etc.)...}* [Al-A'raf 7:157]

Also He سبحانه وتعالى says in another verse:

*{Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم is the Messenger of Allaah, and those who are
with him are severe against disbelievers, and merciful among themselves. You
see them bowing and falling down prostrate (in prayer), seeking Bounty from
Allaah and (His) Good Pleasure. The mark of them (i.e. of their Faith) is on
their faces (foreheads) from the traces of (their) prostration (during
prayers). This is their description in the Tauraat (Torah). But their
description in the Injîl (Gospel) …}* [Al-Fath 48:29]

These characteristics were mentioned in the Tauraat and in the Injeel (the
Bible). And as Allaah سبحانه وتعالى says in another verse:

*{ And (remember) when Allâh took the Covenant of the Prophets, saying:
"Take whatever I gave you from the Book and Hikmah (understanding of the
Laws of Allâh), and afterwards there will come to you a Messenger (Muhammad
صلى الله عليه وسلم) confirming what is with you; you must, then, believe in
him and help him." Allâh said: "Do you agree (to it) and will you take up My
Covenant (which I conclude with you)?" They said: "We agree." He said: "Then
bear witness; and I am with you among the witnesses (for this)."}* (Aali
Imran 3:81)

These are all verses showing or displaying to us vivid characteristics of

* Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم is the final Messenger sent to mankind and the
Seal of the Prophets that came before him. *

The Shaykh حفظه الله continued by saying that these are some small glimpses
of the Seerah of the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم – the one who Allaah سبحانه
وتعالى sent to all of mankind – the jinn, and the `Ins (human). The
Messenger صلى الله عليه وسلم was sent to everyone.
the seal of the prophets i.e. there is no prophet that will come after him
If there was a prophet who would come after him, then he
would have been mentioned in the Book of Allaah سبحانه و تعالى; and the
prophets who came before the Messenger Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم would
have given ...
