Now getting refunds of rail fares has become hassle-free.
While earlier the procedure for a refund took close to a month, the
same can now be done in a matter of minutes.
Previously, on the cancellation of a reserved ticket, a passenger
would be required to obtain a ticket deposit receipt from the
station on surrendering the ticket. He would then have to apply for
the refund. After the verification of the non-use of the ticket from
charts of destination was completed, the refund could be
collected. "In the new system, you can go to any computerised
reservation window and seek a refund immediately. We have made the
whole procedure hassle-free to help passengers,'' chief commercial
manager, Central Railway, Sunil Agarwal said.
The whole system has been put in order and the new refund procedure
will be implemented with immediate effect,'' said Agarwal.
