hi guys, I dont understand chinese but still trying to fix a chinese windows xp laptop.. I runned a virus scan by removing the hard drive and connecting it externally with symantec.. I got 74 infected files.. when i have plugged back the hard drive to the laptop I am getting D000144 unknown hard error with a blue screen... more »

sevice packs not included in windows update??

I am running windows vista home premium and have had to reinstall. When going through the windows update the service packs dont show up. do i need to download and install manualy?

I have a shortcut on my Vista desktop that points to a My Pictures folder stored on an XP computer connected to our home network. Every time the folder is displayed on the Vista computer it is in details format. I have to manually change the view to Extra Large Icons. Are there any parameters... more »

Hi, Is it possible to purchase a windows vista home basic product key on line? I'd like to validate an illegal installation (inherited). Couldn't see the facility on the MS web site. Or would I be better just to go to the store and buy the package (solely for the product key) Thanks!! Jim

HP Printer software Fatal Error at 94%

Recently my HP OfficeJet L7680 froze up while scanning and wouldn't work even after rebooting. It has worked for over a year. I did the obvious - downloaded the latest drives from HP and got the Fatal Error at 94% . I wrote HP and have since had TEN emails from them suggesting all sorts of ways to fix this problem.... more »

Not able to delete Gadgets (calendar)

Not sure if my kiddos did it or what happened.... but, there are several occurrences of the calendar Gadget on the dock and every time I try to delete one my pc freezes. Not only that, but they won't delete. I can add a gadget, but can't delete it. Please help, Lynette

...The error message is that the "site" is using script that is slowing down my internet connection! is there a way to address this problem? When I visit other sites i do not recieve this message. Thanks for any help:cool::)
