One of our clients in Surat had a Linux server break-down. I am trying
to help him find someone who can reinstall Linux on the server and get
it going. We can handle the rest via SSH or webinar from our Mumbai

Thanks for the tip.
In my older release of ubuntu 8.04 I tried
dmesg and found that the modem is not
getting detected. I used 8.04 as it is LTS (Long
Term Support)
I downloaded and installed ubunt 9.04
and the modem started on hotplug.
Since there are lot of posts on internet that
says that there is some problem with

Follow following steps and see if it works for you too.
Step 1. Insert the card and do dmesg as root
output : 0.0: ttyS0 at I/O 0x2e8 (irq = 3) is a 16C950/954
Step 2. edit /etc/wvdial.conf
[Dialer Reliance]
Modem = /dev/ttyS0
Baud = 57600
SetVolume = 0
Dial-AT-OK ATDT Command =
Init1 = ATZ
FlowControl = Hardware (CRTSCTS)

Anyone has experience of
Reliance Netconnect Broadband on Linux
What I found is that ubuntu 9.04 is able to autodetect
the modem but 9.10 is not able to detect.
Please reply if you have any experience with
Reliance Netconnect Broadband on Linux
it is Huawei EC 1260 Modem
