Syn: *Orchis strateumatica* L.
Family: Orchidaceae
Common Name: Lawn Orchid, Soldier's Orchid
Etymology: Greek - Zeuxis meaning 'united' and strateuma meaning 'band' or
'army'.
Distribution: Central Asia to Tropical and Subtropical Asia. Recently
recorded from Saudi Arabia.
Picture details
Location: WII Campus grasslands, Chandrabani, Dehradun
Date: 07.02.2010
Camera used: Nikon D300 + 60mm Nikkor Macro.

This is a small orchid that usually grows in open grasslands which are
usually covered with water during rainy seasons.

Note: I would be grateful, if any member notices this orchid anywhere in
India and adds information to this thread.
