dear riders, i recommend this area for the next race, a time trial. Vasu recommended a short one for the start into 2010 season. there is this double road lasting all the way from the kengeri satellite town Cub in the south (close to nice ring road) to East -west institution college in the north close to magadi road little west of Sunkadakatte. the map shows a recde point which can be easily reached from the bangalore university campus western gate with the temple next to the ring road junction, going west form there on a newly tared road you can reach the*"recce point" * across the valley on the next ridge very easily. there you are on the double road stretching a few km south and north with absolutely minimal traffic. how is that ? cheers Georg
Georg, I have seen security guards near the mysore road junction of the proposed track. I dont know, but we have to see if they have a problem with this. And I agree there is minimal traffic here. This was my college route during bachelors :).
One more prob is that there are few humps in this track at frequent places (not entirely sure if they are there now).

Hi Poovaiah and others, on this stretch there are no security guards at all. i have taken it about twice a week in the last 2 months. there are also no bumps or speed brakers, it is all the way new tar. only one single point is not tared for about 100' only because they are doing the culvert slabs there and not finished yet. that is the only spot. but it can be overcome, even with road bikes. in the middle of the stretch, just 200 yards south of what i have marked the recce point is a big banyan tree giving nice shade just 200' off the orad nad a loittle further south on a fenced farm landwith coconut palms cut into two by this new road is a local politicians house..... with the usual guys hanging out. the stretch has some curves, ups and downs, great side and head winds because it follows the ridge towards kengeri club .
so close to town i have not found better stretches yet, and best is that we have not had any race yet in the western areas. so this is new land................

Have you thought of the back road to Nandi that you often advocate? Not from Hennur road which I think is what you take, but from Old Madras Road. After the village, you have about 12km to the T junction and back. Gives a 24km lap. No speedbreakers, and rolling terrain with great surface. Not much traffic either.
Just a thought.

I may do this ride this route on Friday morning. Will start from Girinagar at 6:30AM and ride at a very slow pace with at least a couple of coconut water stops. I was looking for a short and slow ride while fasting for Lord Shiva. Friday is a holiday for only some companies. Me and a friend will be riding, all others who have the day off and need a lazy leisurely, do join?
Here is the route I am hoping to take this Friday to the Recce Point:

HI all, I think Saturday morning is a good morning for the recce together. for me saturday is mostly a working day. I have meetings 10 am onward, therefor will appreciate early morning recce.
say meeting at 6.30 am at university campus west gate , next to the temple at the outer ring road ? or is 7 am better ?
yogesh, I have looked at your' map my ride' thing. the underlying wikimapia is very unprecise, fantasy roads creep in, i cannot recognize the recce point due to that. i follow in such areas the satellite image always and keep my nose on the ground....!

* shall be around the same place at 6:30 am. or anytime after that. *
Yogesh, *I found it difficult to follow wikimapia as it does not have the road to take ( highlighted path ) or it didnt load in my page :( * hoipe to make it to the morning ride after an early morning arrival from work ..
