Kolkata: Twenty-four-year-old Sabina Begum (name changed) was thrown out from her in-laws’ house in Baoria, Howrah, along with her two children after her husband died of AIDS.
Her husband who was working as a Zari worker in Mumbai was infected with HIV during his stay there. Later, Sabina’s parents also disowned her. She now stays in a rented house, hiding her identity — as she and one of her sons have also been detected HIV-positive.

Dear Sir,

Thanks ur email and have talked to my physician and am on lamivudine, tenofovir disoproxil fumurate and Efavirenz tablets and my CD4 count is good and all my kidney and liver functions are well. My physician advised me to exercise and eat a well balanced diet which am doing but the lump has not subsided at all. I need your advise on liposuction to suck out the fat, apart from my positive status am healthy and doing well. I reside in Mombasa- Kenya. Please advice.

IMPHAL: The number of HIV positive women in Manipur has been steadily increasing over the last 10 years, according to Project Director (Technical) of Manipur State AIDS Control Society Dr Kh Pramodkumar.
Speaking at the inaugural function of the prog- ramme titled ‘Knowledge for action now’ at the State Youth Hostel, Khuman Lampak here today, Dr Pramodkumar informed that the current rate of HIV prevalence among the women in Manipur is an alarming 35 percent as against 17 percent 10 years back.
